An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated education leader to join Wakefield Council as a Senior School Improvement Adviser within the Education & Inclusion service.
This is a strategic leadership position for an individual with a proven track record of driving school improvement, raising standards and supporting educational excellence across schools and settings.
You will play a pivotal role in supporting schools, academies and educational leaders through challenge, support and innovation, helping to improve outcomes for children and young people across the authority.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and challenging schools to drive continuous improvement
- Promoting excellence in leadership, teaching, learning and assessment
- Monitoring school performance and supporting self-evaluation processes
- Supporting schools with national reforms including SEND priorities
- Leading and managing school improvement teams and thematic areas
- Delivering CPD, training and leadership support to school staff
- Working collaboratively with schools, trusts, governing bodies and strategic partners
- Supporting the Local Authority's ambitions to raise educational standards across the region
This is a highly influential role requiring strategic thinking, exceptional leadership and the ability to build strong professional relationships across the education sector.
We are seeking candidates who have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Degree level education
- Significant leadership experience at Headteacher / Head of School level (or equivalent)
- A strong track record of leading successful school improvement initiatives
- Experience of improving standards and leading organisational change
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and current education priorities
- Excellent communication, analytical and influencing skills
- Experience working collaboratively with schools and education partners
Desirable experience includes:
- NPQs or postgraduate qualifications
- Experience within Local Authority settings
- HMI or Ofsted inspection experience
